Life Coaching is Multi-dimensional

If you notice the root word for Question is “Quest” as it puts us on a quest.  Several things are happening in our brain when we are asked questions and it piques our curiosity.  Curiosity is now known as just as important as intelligence.

Questions pulls, advice pushes.  One is coming from the higher self, the other is coming from the ego.  Look at the word “Ad-vice”, adding vice.  If you can think of it in that strata, then you can manage the part of you that wants to fix it.  Remember, they have their own fixer.  What asking questions does is activate their fixer, so they can find the solution for themselves.  Curiosity fuels imagination, creative work and innovation.

A study published by the journal “Neuron” shows that Curiosity activates the part of the brain that is seeking a reward. Just as much as a physical reward.  So when we ask a question our brain automatically is seeking a reward. So you are priming the brain to gain a reward through questions.

Curiosity also activates part of the brain that is ready for learning. So when you start asking yourself questions about yourself, you are actually learning about yourself.  Studies also show we retain better when our curiosity is activated.

Curiosity also stimulates desire and want. Asking a question actually warms up the brain to desire the answer. This is why coaching is so powerful. People actually learn better when curiosity is stimulated first. So when you question your clients they’re actually open to learning new things about them, about their goals, and about their blockages. When you prime them with questions not only does a person want to learn and know about themselves but they actually retain it better.

It also energizes us, as it ignites the immune system as it puts purpose to our lives and our sense of purpose boosts the immune system so we feel energetic and have a sense of well-being by being put on a “quest” through questions.

Many great inventions were made through inquisitiveness, curiosity and the urge to know more about things in the world around us.

“I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious,” says Albert Einstein.

“Judge a man by his questions rather than by his answers.”- Voltaire

“If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on the solution, I would spend the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask, for once I know the proper question, I could solve the problem in less than five minutes.” Albert Einstein.

Saying that, there are so many things that can legitamize what you want to do with life coaching.

  • Private one-on-one practice: You are welcome to start a practice where you are seeing clients privately in an office setting.  This is usually the most popular view of Life Coaching.
  • Group coaching: Many programs, both profit and no-profit are looking for people to do group coaching.  We are seeing this spring up in youth programs, or people are that are in recovery.  You can create groups for people dealing with grief, loss, entrepreneur building, etc.  This is how I started out.  It is a great way to introduce yourself to the public and gain private and group clients.
  • Public speaking. So many motivational speakers today that are making an impact are life coaches.  Speakers like Les Brown, Lisa Nichols, Iyanla Vanzant, Tony Robbins and so much more.
  • Youtube or Facebook channel: Many life coaches are now creating their own YouTube channel and with so much stock video out there, you can really make it professional.
  • Seminars: are great for discussion and/or training.  You can even create a certificate to certify they were trained in the subject manner that you created.
  • You can create one day or several day retreats and price it accordingly.  In the retreat you can create activities and speakers to give an enriching experience.
  • Author a book: Many people actually get certified in life coaching to give credential to their book that they wrote.  Or you can, through your training seek to write a book inspired by what you are learning.
  • Start an organization: Several of our graduates used their life coaching certification to start a non-profit or an organization that serves the community.
  • Start a ministry.  You can start a ministry that is aligned with life coaching.  At TLC you actually will have an officient ordination which can credential you to start a healing ministry.
  • Add a new dimension to what they are already doing: Many therapists, social workers, nurses, doctors and other professionals want to stay in their profession, but want to add another dimension (Life coaching) to be more effective.
  • Conferences: You can create conferences here people are coming together under one purpose, like a wellness conference, or an energetic healing conference, etc.

These are just some suggestions.  By asking yourself questions, you may come up with new and exciting ways to use a Life Coaching certification.  Be careful though, there are many programs out there that do not give you a deeper dive into being an effective life coach, so choose wisely!  TLC always welcomes you, however, we are more interested in what is the best fit for you!
